Opposition puts forward resignation ultimatum to Pashinyan

If the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, fails to resign by December 8, actions of disobedience will start throughout Armenia, the organizers of the rally in Yerevan have stated. Vazgen Manukyan, the oppositional candidate, nominated for the Premier, has called for the formation of an interim government.

On December 5, thousands of activists gathered for a rally demanding Pashinyan's resignation. It will allow achieving stability, as well as avoiding social collapse and humanitarian catastrophe, said Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a member of the supreme body of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun". He suggested that Pashinyan might try to hold early elections and falsify outcomes thereof.

Pashinyan's resignation will help minimizing the negative implications of the autumn aggravation of the Karabakh conflict, Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the "Fatherland" Party, is sure. "We need a power that can say 'No' to Azerbaijan. Pashinyan has neither courage nor will to do this," Mr Vanetsyan has stated as reported the edition named "Factor".

If Pashinyan fails to resign voluntarily, he will be forced to do it, Vazgen Manukyan has stated. "His government had led the country to defeat, and territorial and human losses," he has stated.

President, Armen Sargsyan, has noted that citizens have the right to express their opinions and demand explanations from the authorities regarding losses as a result of the war.

Violence can lead to civil war, the press secretary for the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, wrote on the Facebook.
