Azerbaijani parliament calls for exclusion of France from OSCE

The Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan) has suggested that the Azerbaijani government should seek the exclusion of France from the OSCE after the resolution of the French Senate on the need to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October, against the background of full-scale hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called on the international community to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev announced that he would sever diplomatic relations with those countries that recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. On November 25, after the cessation of the hostilities, the French Senate adopted a resolution on the need to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh.

Today, the Parliament of Azerbaijan (Milli Majlis) has expressed a protest to the French Senate because of the resolution adopted the day before and called to reconsider the political and economic relations of Azerbaijan with France.

The Milli Majlis has suggested that the Azerbaijani government should apply to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to exclude France from the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, the "Sputnik Azerbaijan" reported.

Today, a protest action against the French Senate's resolution has been held in front of the French Embassy in Azerbaijan. About 40 NGO members were chanting: "Karabakh is Azerbaijan!", "France, be fair!", "Respect international law!", and "France, get out of the OSCE!", the AZERTAC state-run news agency reported.
