After Azerbaijani troops' entry to Kelbadjar, Karabakh residents lost Internet

The establishment of Azerbaijani control over Kelbadjar (the Armenian name is Karvachar), through which the fibre-optic cable had passed, has caused Internet problems. The city of Martakert and surrounding villages are still supplied with electricity less by half, the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 25, units of the Azerbaijani Army entered the territory of the Kelbadjar District, from where units of the Nagorno-Karabakh's Defence Army had withdrawn.

The "Caucasian Knot" has drafted a map to show the territories that will pass over to Azerbaijan after the autumn war. Also, the "Caucasian Knot" has published a deployment map of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

There are problems with communication in Stepanakert, especially with the Internet, due to the transfer of Karvachar to Azerbaijan, because the cable was laid through Karvachar, David Sargsyan, the Mayor of Stepanakert (the Azerbaijani name is Khankendi), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Aik Bakhshyan, the head of the Martakert District Administration, has also pointed to problems with communication, including the Internet. "The problem with communication and Internet has to do with the fact that cables pass through Karavachar. Now, it's necessary to lay new lines," he said.

Asmik Arushanyan, a resident of Stepanakert, has confirmed that townspeople have no access to the Internet. "There has been no Internet in the city for six or seven days," she has complained.
