Baku analysts explain absence of data on military losses in Azerbaijan
The absence of Azerbaijani data on war losses and on exchange of casualties' bodies may have to do with data updating and with the fact that the official Baku waits for the transfer of all the areas designated in the joint statement under its control, Azerbaijan analysts have suggested.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 19, Arsen Torosyan, the Minister of Public Health of Armenia, confirmed the death of 2425 servicemen of the Defence Army; and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh presented the names of 1678 of them. However, the Azerbaijani party has not discloses the data on its combat losses.
Avaz Gasanov, the head of the "Society for Humanitarian Studies", believes that the absence of data on Azerbaijani losses may be due to the continuation of the process of search and exchange of bodies.
On the other hand, he continued, although military actions are over, according to the joint statement signed by Aliev, Pashinyan and Putin, the process of transferring three districts under the Azerbaijan's control will last till December 1. Mr Gasanov has suggested that "the official Baku will consider this date as the end of military operations; and in a short time after will announce its losses."
This viewpoint is shared by Telman Abilov, the head of the NGO "Military Lawyers".
"The process of updating the losses is probably underway. Eventually, all the data will be announced. It's impossible to hide them," Mr Abilov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
