Azerbaijan resumes shelling of Stepanakert

Azerbaijani troops are shelling Stepanakert; the central marketplace and a residential area came under fire, rescuers have noted, adding that the data on victims is being specified.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on October 26, a new agreement on a humanitarian truce in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but already during the first hours after, the parties exchanged accusations of violating the truce. On October 30, the heads of Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFAs) of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed, at their meeting in Geneva, not to attack peaceful dwelling settlements.

This morning, an air-raid alert signal sounded in Stepanakert at 7:10 a.m. local time; and explosions began heard immediately. The townspeople spent the last night in bomb shelters, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported.

The blow was struck on the central marketplace and the residential area around it. Residential buildings and infrastructure were destroyed, rescuers have stated. "According to preliminary data, there are no victims," Unan Tadevosyan, an employee of the Emergency Service of Nagorno-Karabakh, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
