Amid aggravation of Karabakh conflict, Armenia announces general mobilization

The Armenian government has announced the martial law and general mobilization in connection with the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, announced this on September 27 in his Facebook page.

"We ask those ascribed to military units to appear at the territorial military commissariats," wrote Nikol Pashinyan, whose statement was translated into Russian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported a successful continuation of its counter-offensive operation. Units of the Azerbaijani Army are fighting for important heights in the Terter-Agdam, Fizuli-Djebrail directions, and in the direction of Mount Murovdag, says the press release received by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the release, the missile and artillery troops and aviation are striking enemy command posts, destroying "a large number of manoeuvring forces, military equipment and military facilities." Fierce fighting is taking place along the entire frontline, the MoD states in its message.

Khikmet Gadjiev, an assistant to the Azerbaijani President, has accused Armenia of "deliberate and purposeful" shelling attacks on the villages in the Karabakh conflict zone.
