US special services attracted to inquiry into Tamar Bachaliashvili's death

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has joined the investigation into the circumstances of the death of the programmer, Tamar Bachaliashvili; it was done at the request of her relatives who do not trust the findings of Georgian investigators, the advocate has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 23, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that during the initial examination, no traces of violence were found on the body of the 23-year-old Tamar Bachaliashvili; and that investigators were establishing the circumstances of her death. This statement was made amid protests, whose participants reproached the police for an inefficient investigation. Tamar's mother demanded a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia to find out which officials' files her daughter had access to before her death.

On August 5, parents of Tamar Bachaliashvili met with investigators dealing with the case at the MIA, from whom they learned that the MIA had sent a request for cooperation with experts from the FBI, said Mikhail Ramishvili, an advocate for the Bachaliashvili family. "Now, we are discussing on what issues cooperation will be conducted and the area of their (FBI employees) participation," he said on the air of the "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company.

Mr Ramishvili said that the Bachaliashvili family insists that FBI experts conduct an examination of the girl's personal car, in which she left home on the day of her disappearance. Relatives believe that investigators are hiding the real cause of their daughter's death, he has noted.
