Fourteen people detained after protests in Amulsar

The total number of those detained in Amulsar reached 14: ten activists and four employees of the "Lydian Armenia" Company.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on August 4, the geologic exploration "Lydian Armenia" Company replaced the trailers of local residents who were on duty in the outskirts of Mount Amulsar for its own ones. This sparked protests that turned into clashes.

Those detained during clashes with law enforcers were taken to the Vayk police station, Ani Samsonyan, an MP from the "Enlightened Armenia" Party, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"They've violated the state of emergency, under which it's impossible to hold actions, rallies, and were detained on this basis," Ms Samsonyan said, adding that she did not treat the detentions as justified, since the activists raised the issue related to people's life and safety.
