Chechen authorities mobilize athletes to support Kadyrov

Grozny has hosted a half-marathon race, in which more than 260 people took part. The participants of the demonstrative race for 1.5 kilometres carried the multi-meter-long banner with the inscription: "#MySemyaKRA" (We are the family of Kadyrov, Ramzan Akhmatovich) across the city centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chechen authorities had initiated a flash mob in social networks in support of Ramzan Kadyrov, who had fallen under the new US sanctions. Under a threat of dismissal, bosses of budget-funded institutions force their employees to get registered in social networks and post their photos with the above hashtag, state servants complained.

The half-marathon race was held in Grozny on August 2, a source from the Chechen Ministry of Sports told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on August 3.

According to his story, the participants of the 1.5 km demonstrative race took part in the flash mob with the hashtag #MySemyaKRA. "They carried a multi-meter banner with this inscription across the city centre, thus expressing their support for the head of the republic," the source said.
