Azerbaijani MFA urges to strengthen guarding of its citizens abroad

Azerbaijani authorities have demanded from the police of the EU countries and the USA to ensure the guarding of Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions and Azerbaijani citizens after Armenians' protest actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in the USA claimed that a policeman and seven Azerbaijanis suffered at a protest rally against the aggravation of the conflict on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border held in Los Angeles on July 21.

The situation on the border of the Tovuz District of Azerbaijan and the Tavush Region of Armenia escalated on July 12. According to the Armenian side, the situation on the border aggravated after the Azerbaijani troops had tried to break through the border. In its turn, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan claims that the conflict escalated after the Armenian armed forces had attempted to go on the attack.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has condemned the actions of Armenian citizens at protests in Los Angeles. "We expect a responsible approach of the agencies in charge of preventing such [situations] to their duties," said the statement released by the Azerbaijani MFA on July 23, as translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Azerbaijani authorities have called on to strengthen the guarding of Azerbaijani diplomatic missions, to pay more attention to diplomats' immunity and security, as well as to the security of Azerbaijani citizens.

Besides, the Azerbaijani side demanded to investigate the actions of Armenian citizens during the actions in France, Great Britain, Sweden, Poland, Australia, the USA, the Netherlands and Belgium, the statement claims.
