Tight quarantine regime extended in Azerbaijan

A total of 572 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been diagnosed in Azerbaijan; the total number of those infected has reached 18,684. Amid this situation, authorities have extended the strict quarantine until July 20.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by July 1, the coronavirus death toll in Azerbaijan reached 220. Meanwhile, authorities announced stabilization of the COVID-19 situation. Since July 2, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) cancelled road posts in order to involve more policemen in foot patrols.

According to authorities' decision, from midnight local time on June 21 till 6:00 a.m. (5:00 a.m. Moscow time) on July 5, the quarantine regime has been tightened.

In the cities of Baku, Sumgait and Ganja, and in the Apsheron, Djalilabad, Lenkoran and Masalli Districts, leaving home is allowed only by SMS permits. Public transport is completely stopped. On July 4-20, the Baku Metro is stopped. In all the country's public places, it is forbidden to gather in groups of more than five people.
