Social network users treat Dagestani COVID statistics on parade day as dubious

The June 24 sharp and short-term surge in the number of coronavirus survivors in Dagestani official statistics has to do with authorities' desire to present the parade and vote for amendments to the Constitution as justified, social network users have suggested.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the authorities of Dagestan decided to hold the Victory Parade despite the difficult epidemiological situation in the region. The authorities' decision was criticized on Instagram. Users of the social network note that such events are inappropriate during the epidemic and suggested that the authorities should spend money to help those who lost their income.

On June 24, the administrator of the public "Stalingulag" in the VKontakte social network drew attention to a sharp increase in the number of those who had recovered from coronavirus in Dagestan. He posted a screenshot of the schedule in the corresponding section of Yandex: according to this schedule, on June 11-23, from 21 to 51 recovered patients with coronavirus were recorded per day, but on June 24, a total of 468 recoveries were registered.

"Here's the statistics of recoveries in Dagestan. Apparently, all patients did not see any special reasons to recover. And here is a parade," the post says.

Dagestani communities have also paid attention to the strange statistics. "In Dagestan, almost 500 patients have recovered suddenly. Before that, there were 20-50 recoveries per day," said the June 24 post in the tut.yuzhdag public on the Instagram.

"They've recovered so sharply because it's time to vote," the user saitievt has suggested. "Everyone will recover by the vote for the amendments to the Constitution," the user khalidovich05 has noted ironically.
