Chechen resident fined for disseminating Timur Mutsuraev's song

A court imposed a fine on a resident of the Gudermes District, who posted on his social network page a song of well-known bard Timur Mutsuraev. The fined resident of Chechnya claimed that he was not aware of the inclusion of the bard's song in the list of extremist materials.

On June 10, the court sentenced a resident of the Gudermes District of Chechnya to a fine for posting on his social network page a song by Timur Mutsuraev, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office reports on its official website. The prosecutors' report does not specify the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned from a public prosecutor that the local resident said he was not aware of the extremist nature of the song he had posted on his social network page. Earlier, local residents have also told the "Caucasian Knot" that many users of social networks are not aware of the ban on such posts.

Timur Mutsuraev has been well known in Chechnya since the period of the first military campaign. He performed songs about the war in the Russian language, and later, religious motives and calls for jihad appeared in the bard's songs. In 2010, more than 20 songs of Timur Mutsuraev were recognized as extremist and included in the federal list of materials prohibited for distribution.
