Armenia imposes mask regime

The Armenian authorities forbade local residents to leave their homes without medical masks because of the spread of the coronavirus infection.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by June 3, in Armenia, the COVID-19 death toll increased up to 170, while 10,524 cases of coronavirus infection were detected.

The Armenian authorities obliged local residents to wear medical masks, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan announced. According to him, such a measure will help curb the spread of the epidemic. An exception is done for children under six years of age. Besides, a person is allowed not to wear a mask while going for sports and cycling. "Despite the inconvenience of wearing masks in hot weather, this is one of the few effective ways to contain the epidemic," Tigran Avinyan noted.

In the city of Sevan in the Gegharkunik Region, the quarantine regime imposed on May 25 has been extended for other seven days, reports the Armenian Commandant's Office on its official website.
