Ramzan Kadyrov: from threats to isolation recommendations

The head of Chechnya has signed a number of decrees, recommending local residents with chronic diseases, and those over 65 years old, to stay in self-isolation. The decrees were published amid Kadyrov's earlier threats to physical execute quarantine violators.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov equated coronavirus carriers with terrorists and demanded to place quarantine violators into isolation facilities, deprive them of food and bury in pits. In Chechnya, law enforcers were armed with polypropylene pipes intended for punishing (beating up) quarantine violators, the "Novaya Gazeta" reported on March 29. However, the Chechen minister Djambulat Umarov has refuted this information.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has signed a number of decrees aimed at supporting businesses in the conditions of the pandemic, as well as for preventing the spread of coronavirus in the republic, said the website of the republic's head and government on March 31.

The decrees provide for a moratorium on some scheduled audits of entrepreneurs, decrease of tax rates, exemption from certain taxes, lowering the rental payments and other support measures.

Besides, local residents are recommended to limit their travel across the territory of the republic, including for recreation and tourism, and people suffering from chronic diseases, as well as those aged over 65, to observe the self-isolation regime.

Social network users have welcomed the news that half of monthly salaries of top-ranking officials and law enforcers, as well as MPs, will be directed to republic's doctors and nurses. According to Kadyrov, this initiative came from officials and law enforcers themselves.
