Week of February 24-March 1 passed without victims of North-Caucasian conflict

During the week from February 24 to March 1, 2020, during the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, no casualties and victims were recorded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its materials and information from other open sources.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On Friday, February 28, dozens of law enforcers raided the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. Mobile police posts were deployed on both sides of Omarov Street and at the exit from the mosque into Gagarin Street. Law enforcers stopped believers' cars, and wrote down personal data of drivers and passengers. They explained the raid by the operation "Debtor" aimed to reveal tax and other debtors, but there were no court marshals with them. No information was disseminated about any detainees and those taken to the police station.

Kidnappings

On February 26, it became known that in the evening of February 22, the four residents of the village of Gekhi, Urus-Martan District, kidnapped on February 5, returned home after a 10-day arrest in Grozny. They were kept in a special detention centre in Grozny, where they were placed on February 12, accused of disturbing the public order. It is unknown where they were kept on February 5-12.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report. Among the victims have been Abubakar Mestoev and Umar Chichaev, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Northern Caucasus, reports Shamil Khadulaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan.

  • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine.
