On January 6-12, 2020, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of January 6-12, 2020, no victims to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were registered. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Kidnappings

In the evening on December 26, 2019, Shamkhan Khamurzaev, a resident of Grozny, left the house and did not return. From then until January 6, nothing was known of his whereabouts. After relatives had filed a formal complaint about the disappearance of Shamkhan Khamurzaev to the on duty department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), it became known that he was kept in the territory of the police patrol-and-post service (known as PPS) regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov. The relatives were not informed of the reason for the man's detention. They learned that after the holidays, after investigators started working, he would be questioned and then transferred to the MIA's Leninsky ROVD (District Interior Division). On January 10, the relatives were informed that Shamkhan Khamurzaev "had been relaxing with his friends all that time" and already returned home. According to the man's relatives, "it is not important anymore" from where the information about his detention at the OVD (Interior Division) came.

The provided statistics cannot reflect the number of victims with the 100 percent accuracy. Not all information is included in the news reports. It is not always possible to check the reliability of the statements voiced by the law enforcement bodies. Besides, new facts about the events of the reporting period become often known after the statistics had been already published on the "Caucasian Knot".

Let us remind you that during the week from December 30 to January 5, six persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, all of them in Ingushetia. On December 31, at the entrance to Magas, a car with two persons inside it hit a road-and-post service (known as DPS) inspector who was standing near the road. After that, the suspected militants attacked the police crew with knives. As a result, policeman Zelimkhan Kokorhoev was killed, and three of his colleagues were injured. One of the attackers, Mikail Miziev, was killed, while the second attacker, Akhmed Imagozhev, was seriously wounded and placed to resuscitation ward.
