Publishers of Circassian calendars dedicate charity event to a family of repatriates

Activists from Kabardino-Balkaria plan to raise money from the sale of Circassian calendars for 2020 to draw up documents for a large family of repatriates from Syria. People who bought the calendars liked a photograph of the Circassian elders, made by Stavropol photographer Andrei Smolnikov, the activists note.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2018, activists from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) held a charity action to sell Circassian calendars for 2019 and spent the raised money to finance repairing of a house and drawing up of documents for a family of repatriates from Syria.

Activist Ratmir Karov said that they began printing Adyg charity calendars 10 years ago. Initially, the proceeds from their sale went to the construction of playgrounds and purchase of household appliances for the people in need, and after refugees from Syria began to come to the Circassian regions, the activists decided to allocate the raised money for help to their compatriots.

According to activist Ratmir Karov, this year, the organizers of the charity action hope for success, since the calendar contains a photograph of Stavropol photographer Andrei Smolnikov, in which he depicted the elders of the Beslaney aul (village) in the Khabez District of Karachay-Cherkessia.

"To take the picture, the elders climbed to a height of 3000 meters above sea level in the Beslaney aul. The photographer worried that the elders would be not able to climb so high," Ratmir Karov said.
