Court extends arrest of native of North Ossetia in case on IS financing

In Moscow, a court extended for a month the arrest of Georgy Guev, a native of North Ossetia, accused of financing a terrorist organization.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Georgy Guev was detained in Moscow on May 16. According to investigators, extremist materials and mobile phones with instructions from coordinators of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, were found in his apartment.

In 2015-2019, Georgy Guev used a bank card to raise money for IS militants and Israil Akhmednabiev, a founder of the Muhajirun Islamic Foundation, who was wanted in a case on terrorism, the law enforcement bodies report. Georgy Guev said that he had made only several transfers to the Living Heart Charity Foundation, engaged in addressing the shortage of drinking water in Africa.

According to Georgy Guev, for him, it is "psychologically difficult to stay in a SIZO (pre-trial prison)."

Earlier, Georgy Guev appealed to President Vladimir Putin with a request to ensure an objective investigation into his case.
