Bench broken by children turns into public scolding of Grozny residents

An Islamic judge has scolded, on air on TV, a couple from Grozny for the kids' vandalism. Some Instagram users have treated it as unnecessary humiliation.

The teens, who had broken a bench in the mini-park, were found thanks to surveillance cameras and taken with their parents to a police station, the "Grozny" TV Channel has reported.

The fight against vandalism "will be fierce," said Arbi Tamaev, the head of the Leninsky District Administration.

The teens, who have broken the bench, are under 16 – they cannot be brought to administrative liability, the TV channel has noted on its Instagram. "Their parents will respond for their offence by involvement in public works," the message says.

Some commentators disagreed with the public scolding of kids and their parents. "They should be punished, but why show it to the whole world? Soon they'll force them kneel down," the user nvu981 has written.

In Grozny, the vandalism problem is quite acute, Malika a woman from Grozny, believes.
