CaT announces action in support of activist Aslan Iritov

A series of solo pickets in support of Aslan Iritov, the head of the organization "Volny Aul" (Free Village), will be held on October 31. The action is timed to the second anniversary of the clashes with law enforcers in the yard of Iritovs' house.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 22, authorities of Nalchik, the capital of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), refused to sanction a picket claimed by Iritov outside the building of the republic's department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), after which activists suggested him to hold a solo picket. Rights defenders have also invited the KBR head to meet residents of Volny Aul, dissatisfied with the distribution of land.

Konstantin Gusev, an activist of the Committee against Torture (CaT), has noted in his Facebook that the action will be held after the republic's authorities refused to sanction a picket at the building of the republic's department of the ICRF.
