Natives of Northern Caucasus detained in case on IS*financing

In the Moscow Region, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Dagestan, nine people were detained on the charge of financing a terrorist organization.

According to the law enforcement bodies, the detained suspects are members of a criminal grouping organized by a native of Kabardino-Balkaria, a member of the "Islamic State" (IS), an international terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court.

"It is found out that an organizer of the criminal grouping is a native of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), who earlier travelled to the Arab countries, where he joined the international terrorist organization 'Islamic State'*. The criminal was instructed by one of the IS* leaders to return to Russia to raise money with a view to their subsequent use for material, technical and resource support of members of the terrorist organization in the territories of Syria and Iraq," the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports today on its website.

The law enforcement bodies suggest that in the capital of Russia, the suspect gathered a group of about 30 people to finance terrorism.

All detainees are taken into custody. They were charged with aiding and abetting terrorist activities and participating in the terrorist organization, the MIA reported.

Accomplices of the organizer of the criminal grouping confessed. The detentions and searches took place in the territory of Moscow, the Moscow Region, Dagestan, and Kabardino-Balkaria, reports today the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) on its website.
