Ruslan Kurbanov describes his meeting with Ramzan Kadyrov after disputes about Shamil

Dagestani journalist Ruslan Kurbanov reported about a "tense" conversation with the leader of Chechnya after public discussions about the personality of Imam Shamil.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ruslan Kurbanov, a Dagestani journalist, political analyst, and researcher engaged in oriental studies, said that Ramzan Kadyrov agreed to give him an interview in Grozny to resolve disagreements about the personality of Imam Shamil and stop "insults between peoples."

On the 20th anniversary of the Chechen militants' invasion into Dagestan, Ramzan Kadyrov drew a parallel between these events and the 19th century Caucasian War and accused Imam Shamil of repressions against Chechens for their unwillingness to confront Russia. On August 8, in Makhachkala, several dozen people came to the Avar Theatre to protest against Kadyrov's words about Imam Shamil. The action caused Kadyrov's discontent. People who continue writing "twaddle and nonsense" on the Internet should come to their senses so that not to initiate war against them, Ramzan Kadyrov said in his recent video message.

Last night, Ruslan Kurbanov reported on Instagram about his conversation with Ramzan Kadyrov. "A tense conversation with Ramzan Kadyrov lasted several hours," the journalist wrote.

The tension in the conversation with the leader of Chechnya was related to the discussion of the format of interaction between the authorities and activists from the public, Ruslan Kurbanov explained.

"As for the personality of Imam Shamil, Ramzan Kadyrov has confirmed that he respects him very much and considers him a great commander, warrior, and imam," the journalist reports. Ruslan Kurbanov has also promised to make public the details of the meeting after the record of the interview with Ramzan Kadyrov is mounted.
