Journalist complains about detention at "Tangim" mosque

Idris Yusupov, an employee of the Dagestani edition "Chernovik" (Draft), has stated that he was detained on Friday during a raid conducted by law enforcers near the "Tangim" mosque in Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Makhachkala, law enforcers are regularly conducting Friday raids near the "Tangim" mosque. On March 12, parishioners of the mosque appealed to the prosecutor's office, after which the number of raids went down. On July 19, believers' cars were stopped after the Friday namaz (prayer) under the pretext of traffic rules violations.

Rights defenders believe that detentions of parishioners at the "Tangim" mosque are a form of pressure on the Salafi congregation of Dagestan.

  • Intimidation with body of person killed in Chechnya becomes propaganda of cruelty

The public demonstration of the body of the killed participant in the attack on a road-and-patrol police service (known as DPS) checkpoint in Achkhoi-Martan contradicts Islam and common sense, as with such actions, the authorities are promoting cruelty and traumatizing the psyche of young people, human rights defenders and a Caucasus expert have pointed out.
