Ingush journalist tortured, his advocate claims

Law enforcers tortured with electric current Rashid Maisigov, a detained Ingush journalist, his advocate Magomed Aushev claimed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 12, law enforcers detained journalist Rashid Maisigov and took him away with them to some unknown destination. According to the mother of the detainee, the law enforcers found in his house a parcel with white powder, as well as a pile of "leaflets about Georgia."

Rashid Maisigov complained of torture. In particular, he said that law enforcers "tied something to his ears, tortured him with electric current, and wanted him to confess to a crime," reported the "MBKH Media" on July 13 with reference to the journalist's advocate Magomed Aushev.

"Of course, Rashid did not confess to anything and does not confess now," Magomed Aushev also noted.

Rashid Maisigov is suspected of drug trafficking on a large scale, but "at first it was about an article on treason against the Motherland," stated Magomed Aushev as quoted by the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta".
