Ingush authorities fail to sanction rally in Magas

The government of Ingushetia has refused to sanction a rally to mark the anniversary of the adoption of the law on rehabilitation of repressed nations. The authorities claim that the organizers failed to indicate how they intend to ensure the public order.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 15, three members of the Ingush Committee of National Unity submitted an application to the government of Ingushetia for a rally on April 26. On the following day, a protocol was drawn up in relation to Khasan Katsiev, one of applicants, on his violation of the procedure for holding a rally in Magas on March 27; and he was fined.

As stated by the press service of the government of Ingushetia, the organizers of the rally have improperly drawn up the notification. Authorities have warned that holding a rally without a due sanction is fraught with administrative or even criminal liability.
