Georgia reports kidnapping of border villager

16-year-old Givi Beruashvili, a resident of the Ditsi village on the border with South Ossetia, was kidnapped from his land plot, the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) reported.

According to the Georgian SSS, the young man is accused of illegally crossing the border.

The young man was kidnapped when he worked the land on his plot, the "Georgia Online" reported with reference to the Georgian State Security Service. Georgia informed the EU observation mission about the incident, the "InterPressNews" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 7, 2018, Georgia reported the kidnapping of a shepherd near the border with South Ossetia. According to the Georgian side, 50-year-old Akakiy Datiashvili was kidnapped while grazing sheep. On October 9, South Ossetia reported his release. On the same day, Maya Otinashvili, a resident of Georgia, who was detained in September 2018, was also released.
