Two pilots perish in military aircraft crash in Armenia
The wreckage of the Su-25, which took off today from Gyumri, was found in the mountains of the Shirak Region; the pilots died, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.
The death of the crew of the military aircraft was reported by Artsrun Ovannisyan, the MoD's press secretary, on his Facebook page.
"Both pilots – Lieutenant Colonel Armen Babayan and Major Movses Manukyan – have perished," Mr Ovannisyan has written today (translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent), without specifying the reasons of the accident.
Today, the above aircraft of the Armenian Air Forces took off the Gyumri Airport at 10:06 a.m. local time. "At about 10:20 a.m., the contact with the Su-25, which was performing a daily scheduled training flight, was lost," the "News-Armenia" quotes the MoD's message.
