Lawyers report reasons for non-giving out body of female suicide bomber in Grozny

The issue for giving out the body of Karina Spiridonova, who blew herself up in Grozny, is regulated by the law on burial of terrorists without notifying relatives, reported advocates. They recommended relatives to go to court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 17, a woman committed a suicide bombing at a checkpoint in the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny. The female suicide bomber was identified as Karina Spiridonova, a 25-year-old native of Adygea. According to sources, young woman's body was not given out to her relatives. The mother of Karina Spiridonova believes that her daughter was forced to commit the suicide bombing through threats to harm her children.

The refusal to give out a body to relatives is an interference with their private lives, notes Rustam Matsev, an advocate of the "Legal Initiative Project". However, according to him, the intervention can be justified, if caused by the interests of national security.

The advocate has noted that as a rule, in practice, investigators apply the norms of the law to people killed during counterterrorist operations (CTO). Relatives can seek a body to be given out through court.

The principle of presumption of innocence until court decision is applied to a suspect or a defendant, despite his or her death, notes Rustam Matsev.

Let us remind you that earlier, bodies of the militants killed in the Chechen capital on December 17-18, 2016, were not given out to their families. Relatives were informed of burial of the killed militants in nameless graves near Grozny.
