Residents of Ingushetia go to court because of Internet disconnection during rallies

Two residents of Magas filed claims to the court with the demands to fine a mobile operator for disconnecting the access to the Internet during rallies against the change in the border with Chechnya. The "Roskomnadzor" (Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media) explained the disconnection of the Internet by the decision of the law enforcement bodies.

At the very beginning of the mass protests, residents of Ingushetia complained that the mobile Internet stopped working, although there were no problems in the neighbouring republics.

The lawsuits have been filed against the "Megafon" Company, lawyer Khusen Daurbekov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. In total, it is planned to file about 600 lawsuits against all mobile companies, since about 100,000 people have been affected, the lawyer emphasized.

One of the plaintiffs noted that the disconnection of the mobile Internet was a violation of his consumer rights and caused him moral harm, since he could not stay in touch with people through instant messengers and use applications for his work and everyday needs.

Mobile operators "MTS", "Megafon", and "Beeline" disconnected the Internet in Ingushetia during protests at the request of the law enforcement bodies, probably in connection with a "threat of mass riots," the "Kommersant" reports with reference to the "Roskomnadzor".
