Armenian political analysts point to fragility of Pashinyan-Aliev agreements on Karabakh

The oral agreement of Nikol Pashinyan with Ilham Aliev on the establishment of communication for observing the truce in the Karabakh conflict zone may be broken any time, Armenian political analysts believe.

On October 3, Pashinyan stated that the operative communication of the two leaders had not been established yet, but the agreement to this end had already affected the situation in the conflict zone.

After Aliev's meeting with Pashinyan, on September 29, a rally was held in Baku demanding from the authorities to begin a military "liberation of Karabakh." The Baku political analysts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", have warned against the danger of conflict escalation.

The press service of the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported that since September 28, not a single death of militaries from shots made by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces has been fixed.

It is very difficult to talk about how serious the Pashinyan-Aliev agreement is, because it is not the first such agreement; and they have never been observed for a long time, said Akop Badalyan, a political observer.

He believes that Azerbaijan tried its strength in April 2016 and failed to resolve the Karabakh conflict by militarily means.

Ara Papyan, a political analyst, believes that the result of the Pashinyan-Aliev meeting is not an agreement from the viewpoint of the international law. "It was just a talk of two leaders without any obligations," said Papyan.

According to his story, earlier there were more serious agreements, which were broken by Azerbaijan. However, he noted that now both parties have greater need for peace than two years ago.
