Yunus-Bek Evkurov confirms ratification of agreement on border with Chechnya

The parliament has approved by a majority of votes the law on change in the border with Chechnya, reports Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov. He did not respond to the statement about the breakdown of the voting voiced by several MPs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, according to the press service of the Ingush leader, out of 25 MPs, 17 voted to ratify the agreement on the border with Chechnya. The parliament session was held amid a mass protest action. The attempt to start a dialogue between activists and Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov, who came out to rally participants in Magas, ended with law enforcers shooting into the air.

In turn, according to sources, out of 24 members of the Ingush parliament, 15 voted against the agreement.

In his Instagram, the leader of Ingushetia called on residents of the republic "not to give in to emotional impulses."

"The decision is made in the interests of our republic, its peaceful existence and good neighbourliness," the Ingush leader states in his post.
