Ukraine states detention of Russian from Kadyrov retinue
The foreigner, detained in Kiev on suspicion of drug storage, has to do with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, the Security Service of Ukraine (known as the SBU) has stated.
The man born in 1995 was arrested on September 17 during a car inspection.
During the inspection, the police found a package with white powder, says the website of the Chief Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine.
Two men, born in 1994 and 1996, were also in the car.
"The SBU received information that people close to Kadyrov's regime came to Ukraine," a source from the press centre of the SBU said, the "Interfax-Ukraine" reports, adding that "their goal of their visit was extortion."
The man detained in Kiev is a Russian citizen, the RIA "Novosti" has specified.
