Magomed Suleimanov dismissed as head of Dagestani Medical Insurance Fund

Investigators have reported today that the case of multi-million fraud at the Medical Compulsory Insurance Fund (MCHIF) was combined with the case of abuse of powers by Magomed Suleimanov in the post of acting Mayor of Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Suleimanov, the head of the Dagestani branch of the MCHIF, was arrested on suspicion of creating a criminal community and frauds with payments for more than 210 million roubles. On August 23, the prosecutor's office reported that Suleimanov, as a former acting Mayor of Makhachkala, was also suspected of causing damage to the state budget of Dagestan by 96 million roubles.

Today, investigators have stated that both cases initiated against Suleimanov, on the creation of a criminal community with especially large frauds, and on abuse of powers with causing significant material damage, were combined into one proceeding.

Therefore, investigating bodies asked the court to remove Suleimanov from his post; and the petition was granted, the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported on its website.

The decision to remove Suleimanov from his post was handed down by the Sovietsky District Court of Makhachkala, the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan has confirmed on its website today.
