Head of Dagestan reports to Putin on his war on corruption

More than 200 officials in Dagestan are prosecuted for violating the anti-corruption legislation, Vladimir Vasiliev, the acting head of Dagestan, has stated during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.

At the meeting with Putin, Vasiliev focused attention on combating corruption and appointing new staff officials, explaining that in Dagestan, the cadre reserve is formed on a competitive basis from local residents, natives of Dagestan, said. According to Mr Vasiliev, the first contest was held within a month: 61 persons were selected from 1091 contenders.
