CNN: Egyptian footballer Salah protests against using his name for promoting Kadyrov

The CNN TV Channel has reported that Mohamed Salah, a player for the English "Liverpool" FC and the Egyptian national team, is displeased with the fact that Chechen authorities use his name for their political aims; he intends to leave the national team after Ramzan Kadyrov had awarded him the title of honorary citizen of Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the head of Chechnya awarded Salah with the above honorary title on June 23.

Until July 15, Russia is hosting the FIFA World Cup-2018; and the team of Egypt chose Grozny for its location during the tournament.

According to the CNN, "Salah feels vulnerable after what happened in Chechnya."

"The 'Liverpool' star wouldn't like to be involved in stories not related to football, or to be used in someone's political games," the CNN reports.

Journalists associate the failures of the Egyptian national team at the World Cup with the decision to stay in Grozny for the tournament, because the remoteness of Grozny from the Russian cities, where the team has its matches, affects the players' physical condition, the website of the edition named "Al-Mysri al-Youm" notes.

However, the Egyptian Football Federation refused to confirm Salah's departure from the team.

In his turn, Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information, called the rumours about Salah's departure from the national team as "nonsense."
