Chechen authorities use Egyptian footballers' workout for self-promotion

Not all of the 8000 spectators attended the open workout of the Egyptian national football team voluntarily, local residents said. Together with the participants of the FIFA World Cup, the leadership of Chechnya appeared at the stadium.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the national team of Egypt will prepare for the World Cup matches in Grozny. On June 10, local policemen blocked the streets near the "Akhmat Arena" Stadium and caused traffic jams.

The workout of the Egyptian national football team was attended by about 8000 people, mostly teenagers and children, the Chechen Ministry of Sports has reported.

The Egyptian footballers made a good impression on football fans.

"The very presence of one of the World Cup teams in our republic is a great event; and given Ramzan Kadyrov's activeness in establishing relations with Arab countries, it can be used to develop cooperation with Egypt," Abubakar, a local a resident, believes.

Some spectators said that they were forced to attend the workout.

"I'm not a football fan, but my boss asked to go to the stadium ... The authorities, as usual, have used this event for self-promotion," another local named Khamzat said.
