Father of the schoolboy killed in Tbilisi demands resignation of two ministers

Giorgi Gakhariya, the Georgian Interior Minister, and Teya Tsulukiani, the Justice Minister, should leave their posts, Zaza Saralidze, the father of one of the stabbed schoolboys, has stated at the protest action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 31, the court's judgement in the murder case of two schoolboys triggered multi-day protests in Tbilisi with a demand of fair punishment of the killers and law enforcers who shelter them. Two suspects were detained, including a former high-ranking law enforcer.

According to investigators the latter gave money as a bribe to a witness so that he did not testify against one of the defendants. An employee of the prosecutor's office knew about the defendant's guilt, but failed to inform the police about it.

Zaza Saralidze has stated that investigators are trying to save the "real killer" from responsibility.

On June 5, ten non-governmental organizations (NGOs) demanded the resignation of Teya Tsulukiani, the Georgian Minister of Justice; however, the Premier rejected this demand.
