Armenian carriers demand to meet Nikol Pashinyan

Today, in Yerevan, a number of private carriers have gathered in front of the government building. They are dissatisfied with the fact that their buses are not allowed to cross the Russian border due to the absence of interstate licences.

About 100 employees of the companies engaged in irregular passenger transportation to and from Russia have gathered in front of the government building in Yerevan. They demand to review the system of licences and want to meet Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"The system of licences should be changed. The current system does not provide equal conditions for all carriers. At present, the system is for large players, and small companies are on the verge of bankruptcy. We believe it is Nikol Pashinyan alone who can solve the problem," said one of the participants in the protest action as quoted by the TASS.

According to the current legislation of Armenia, the state grants a licence for passenger transportation to the companies engaged only in regular transportation to and from Russia, the TASS reports.

Meanwhile, starting from June 1, Armenian drivers who have got no licences are forbidden from crossing the Russian border.
