Armenian Premier Pashinyan urges residents to stop protests

All problems should be solved through contacting relevant bodies and authorities, rather than going to protest actions, Nikol Pashinyan, the Armenian Prime Minister, has stated in his page on the Facebook.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of protesters, came to power after on April 23, Serzh Sargsyan stepped down from the post of Prime Minister under the pressure of mass protests.

For the last three days, Yerevan hosts protest actions with the demand to dismiss Taron Margaryan, the city Mayor, and release the imprisoned of members of the armed detachment "Sasna Tsrer", who had captured the building of the police patrol-and-post service and kept it from July 17 to July 30, 2016.

Nikol Pashinyan has noted that "the earlier protests were accompanied by civil disobedience, since protesters were sure that there is no authority in Armenia capable of listening to citizens."

"Now, when people have come to power, who got their status in order to solve country's problems and protect citizens' rights, everyday street blockings are unjustified... The people's power has been set up in Armenia; and protests against this power are illogical," said the Premier, calling people to give the government a chance to sort out problems by the principle of urgency. He has stressed that not a single letter will be left unattended.
