Yerevan townspeople announce their willingness to start new protests

Supporters of oppositional leader Nikol Pashinyan are willing to continue their protest actions on his call to remove the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) from power, ensure fair elections and reforms, and release political prisoners. This was stated by residents of Yerevan interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

On May 3, opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan was nominated to the post of the Prime Minister and the RPA promised to support his candidacy.

Starting from May 3, the protests are stopped in Yerevan; supporters listened to the Nikol Pashinyan's appeal, reports Araik Arutyunyan, a member of the "Civil Contract" Party.

Artyom Pogosyan, a veteran of the Karabakh war, has confirmed his readiness to protest again if on May 8, the Parliament does not elect Nikol Pashinyan to become the Prime Minister of Armenia.

Housewife Mary Oganyan is also willing to rejoin the protest actions. According to her, the most important thing is to release all political prisoners.

Archaeologist Levon Mkrtchyan believes opposition supporters have no choice but to resume protests if the Republican Party of Armenia tries to stay in power.

Yerevan resident Arev Melkonyan believes that on May 8, the ruling party will vote for the people's candidate. The woman associates with Nikol Pashinyan the chance to formation of a government to follow the law and to return of embezzled funds.
