Political analysts: Mikhail Saakashvili is unlikely to return to Georgia

A former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has criticized the socio-economic situation in the country and announced his intention to return to Georgia. However, political analysts believe that he will not be able to return there in the near future, while his supporters from the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party have the resources to repeat the "Revolution of Roses".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia is seeking for extradition of Saakashvili, accused at homeland of a number of crimes. However, political analysts believe that his trial will cause mass protests and an international resonance.

The UNM's press service reports that Saakashvili has blamed the country's authorities and its informal leader, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, of the current situation, adding that the country needs a change of power.

Georgian experts confirm Saakashvili's words about the hardest socio-economic situation in the country, noting that it is associated with a poor economic growth and the drop of the exchange rate of the national currency – the lari.

Mikhail Tokmazishvili, an ex-member of the Board of the National Bank of Georgia, believes that the improvement of the economic situation in the country is possible in the next two years, but the population will be able to feel its results only in three-five years.

However, Paata Sheshelidze, the President of the New Economic School, doubts that there may be a social explosion in the country, as this requires a political decision and a leader who can consolidate people.
