Entrepreneurs threaten to come to protest action after fire in Tbilisi

Tonight, a fire has started at the shopping centre "Tergi-1". It was located on an area of at least 3000 square meters. No one was injured.

At night, sellers and shop owners gathered near the place of the fire. Several people broke through the police cordon and entered the building. Several minutes later they came out and said that the fire destroyed all of their goods, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.

Most owners claim their goods were not insured and the damage can exceed 20,000 laris (more than 8000 US dollars), if the stores were burned down completely, the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel reports.

Entrepreneurs demanded a meeting with the administration of the shopping centre. In case of refusal, they threatened to block the traffic in front of the Tbilisi Mayoralty. The people say they stay at the place of the incident since the night, but they still have not got any information, the Georgian "First Channel" reports.

Surveillance cameras were installed on the territory of the burned down shopping centre. The records from them will help investigators identify the causes of the fire, said Giorgi Mgebrishvili, the chief of the Department for Emergencies.
