KBR's Public Prosecutor reports return of 17 militants from Syria

Four of the returnees from international terrorist organizations acting in Syria were killed, 13 others were convicted, Oleg Zharikov, the Public Prosecutor of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier, in 2017, KBR's investigators counted 195 KBR residents at war in Syria.

"17 militants have returned from the Syrian conflict zone; 13 of them are convicted, and four – neutralized (liquidated)," Mr Zharikov said at a press conference today.

According to his story, there is also data on the participation of two KBR women in terrorist activities in Syria, the "Interfax" reports.

In Syria, residents of other regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) are fighting on the side of the militants. In particular, in the autumn of 2017, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office stated that there could be about 800 natives of the republic in the ranks of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, at war in Syria. According to the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), as of January 2017, since the start of the Syrian war, about 200 residents of the republic had joined the IS, a quarter of them were killed, and ten returned to their homeland.
