Circassian activists notify Mayoralty about planned rally
The "Adyge-Khase" youth movement has filed a notification to the Mayoralty of the city of Cherkessk about a rally scheduled for February 5 and dedicated to the unsolved murders of activist Aslan Zhukov and an adviser to the head of the republic Fral Shebzukhov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Aslan Zhukov was shot dead on March 14, 2010; and on May 12, 2010, Fral Shebzukhov, an adviser to the republic's president, was also shot dead in Cherkessk. The "Adyge-Khase" treats Shebzukhov's murder as politically motivated.
"We are constantly addressed by Zhukov's and Shebzukhov's relatives, who demand to solve their murder cases; therefore, we plan to hold a rally in front of the building of the Investigating Department for Karachay-Cherkessia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) with the participation of some 300 people," Ali Aslanov, the Chairman of the "Adyge-Khase", has stated.
According to his story, a year ago, activists appealed to the authorities, but so far with no results.
He has noted that should the Mayoralty fail to sanction the rally, they will again convene the congress and draw up a plan of further actions.
