20 people get poisoned with sandwiches in Tbilisi
The patients, hospitalized with poisoning, said that they ate chicken sandwiches bought in the "Carrefour" network in Tbilisi, Levan Baidoshvili, the spokesman for the Centre for Disease Control and Public Health, has stated. The "Carrefour" Company promised to eliminate the violations.
According to Mr Baidoshvili, patients with poisoning began arriving at hospital on January 22, the "News-Georgia" reports; they said that they has consumed their "Carrefour" sandwiches at the Tbilisi Mall Trading Centre, the "Imedi" TV has reported.
All the patients were diagnosed salmonellosis. The city service of the above Health Centre has inspected the "Carrefour" café in the Centre and revealed a critical inconsistency with the standards, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.
In its turn, the administration of the "Carrefour" hypermarket network in Georgia has assured that the violations will be eliminated as soon as possible. "The 'Carrefour' always cares about the welfare and safety of its consumers," says the company's statement.
