Sochi nurses to be fired after incident with patient left in the street
In Sochi, two hospital nurses were fired after they drove a patient into the street and left him there.
According to the Ministry of Public Health (MPH) of the Krasnodar Territory, on January 25, at the demand of the patient, hospital nurses, took him into the street in a wheelchair and left him prone on the ground.
"The man categorically demanded to be discharged from the hospital; he claimed that a friend was waiting for him in the street," the "Interfax-Yug" quotes an MPH source as saying.
"A person may reject medical help; this is his/her inalienable right, but such a wish must be made in writing. We resolutely condemn the actions of the medical staff," said Marina Vartazaryan, the head of the Sochi public health department, the TASS reports.
According to a source from the Sochi hospital, the nurses fulfilled the patient's wish. "That patient was hospitalized in a state of strong drug intoxication; and he asked to let him home," the "Komsomolskaya Pravda-Kuban" quoted him as saying.
