One of Volgograd shooters arrested

The court has arrested a suspect in the case of a shootout in Volgograd, who is now at hospital. According to investigators, he was the conflict instigator.

The shootout broke out in the Krasnoarmeisky District in the evening on January 18. One person was killed, and three others were hospitalized with wounds. Two suspects of the murder and an attempt were detained on January 19; one of those wounded in the shootout is under guard at hospital.

Today, in the course of the off-site court session held at the hospital, the judge of the Krasnoarmeisky District Court of Volgograd has ruled to place the suspected patient behind bars, Natalia Kunitskaya, the spokesperson of the regional investigating department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has reported.

"The off-site court session was held in the hospital ward, where the 35-year-old suspect is kept; and the judge has granted the investigator's request to arrest him for two months, until March 20," The "Interfax" quotes Ms Kunitskaya as saying.

According to her version, it is this suspect, as investigators believe, is the instigator of the conflict that ended in a shootout. "With regard to the other two suspects, the detention term has been extended by 72 hours," she has added.
