Former National Guard commander shot dead in Georgian marketplace
Samson Kutateladze, a former high-ranking military and a Georgian MP, was found dead today in his office on the "Istanbul" marketplace in the city Rustavi.
The body of Samson (Soso) Kutateladze with gunshot wounds was found by the marketplace securities. The ex-General was a co-owner of the marketplace, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Tamaz Meshvelashvili, the head of the Rustavi city government, said that a criminal case had been initiated in connection with Kutateladze's assassination.
Soso Kutateladze was born in 1964; since 1991 he held various positions in Georgia's armed forces, took part in the warfare in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as in peacemaking operations in Iraq. Since 2001, he was in the National Guard, and in 2004-2006 was in command thereof. In 2008-2012, Kutateladze was a Georgian MP from the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party and a deputy chairman of the parliamentary security committee.
