In Volgograd, exhibition "Sarmatians' Gold" presents unique artefacts
More than 90 artefacts of the Sarmatian culture, made of precious metals, are exhibited at the Volgograd Regional Museum of Local History. Many of those artefacts have never earlier been exhibited for public.
The Volgograd Regional Museum of Local History opened the exhibition "Sarmatians' Gold" during the New Year holidays. Rare gold and silver artefacts comprise most of the exposition. Experts attribute those artefacts to the Sarmatian archaeological culture (4th century BC-4th century AD).
The artefacts presented in the windows of the new exhibition have never been exhibited earlier, since there is no necessary security system in the exhibition halls. At present, visitors can see only a small part of the unique exhibits stored in the funds. Meanwhile, special measures are taken in the museum to ensure the security of the exhibits.
According to the museum staff, during four days of the exhibition, it was visited by more than a hundred residents of Volgograd.
